The Copper Basin Lady Cougars and Cougars’ basketball teams faced off with their counterparts from Gilmer and had tough outings against them in the opening day of the 7th annual ETC Tipoff Tournament, as the Lady Cougars lost 76-26 to a very talented Lady Cats’ squad and the Cougars fought hard but fell to the Bobcats 69-51. The University of Tennessee and the Copper Basin Cougars took the field Friday night, August 31, 2012. The two teams that call the great state of Tennessee their home came away from their respective matchups victorious. Tennessee faced off against NC State, in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Georgia Dome, winning 35-21, and the Cougars won their third straight home game 41-14 against Hayesville. (more…)

Not even “Batman” could keep the Cougars from being the “Bane” of the Tigers’ existence, as Basin “Harvey Updyked” the roots of the Tiger’s offense. The Copper Basin Recreational Department All-Star Cougars were able to beat the Pickens County Recreational Department All-Star Future Dragons in the consolation match up for third place in the ETC TV3 “10 and Under Summer Slam” Baseball Tournament. The Cougars went 1-1 in the tournament, losing first to the champion Fannin County Recreation Department All-Stars 11-3, before beating PCRD 16-1. (more…)
