Mrs. Dorothy Maybell Jones Burns, age 92, of McCaysville, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020. She was born on September 8, 1927 in Mineral Bluff, to the late Richard Jones and Della Garren Jones. She was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. J.B. Burns, daughter and son-in-law, Margie Lou Burns Heath and Duane Heath; siblings, Pauline (Cork) Henson, Clifford (Glenda) Jones, Randall Jones, Hillard Jones, and Harold Jones; sister-in-law, Dorothy Jones; and brother-in-law, Gary Burk.

She is survived by her children, Marvin Bobby (Rhonda) Burns, Debbie Lynn (Lowell) Thomas, and Robin Michelle (James D.) Callihan; grandchildren, Justin (Amy) Burns, Weston Burns, Josh (Julia) Burns, Jessie Vassar, Jennifer (Eddie) Frank, Jodie (Kyle) Watkins, Jamie (Shamir) Dooley, Jeremy Callihan, Jacob S. (Samantha) Callihan, Amanda (Chad) Reece, and Andy (Beth) Whitener; great-grandchildren, J.B. Burns, Jackson Burns, Caleb Burns, Samantha Burns, Julia Frank, Lucas Frank, Kylie Watkins, Kalynn Watkins, Kara Watkins, Malachi Dooley, Amayah Dooley, Jalen Davis, Ethan Callihan, Ryleigh Callihan, C.J. Reece, Cayden Reece, Carlee Reece, Cam Reece, Bailey Whitener, and Brayden Whitener; siblings, Hoyt Jones, Helen (Nick) Godsey, Ruby (Carl) King, Linda Burk, Billy (Sandy) Jones, Max Jones, and David Jones; sister-in-law, Liz Jones; and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 12:00 PM from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Jeremy Hedden and Rev. Curtis Easley officiating. Music was provided by April Hedden and Diana Odom. Interment followed in the New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Joe Dan Wilkins officiating. Pallbearers were Justin Burns, Weston Burns, Josh Burns, Eddie Frank, Kyle Watkins, Shamir Dooley, Jeremy Callihan, and Jacob Callihan.
