The Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville announces the death of Mrs. Edna Hedden age 64 of Blairsville who passed away on Wednesday evening, August 14, 2019 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Louise Hitch Knight, 87, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, died peacefully in her home on Thursday, August 8, 2019. She was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia, on November 1, 1931, to Frank Hitch and Agnes Martin Hitch. She graduated from North Georgia College in 1951. Lou married Gordon E Knight in 1956. For many years she lived in Atlanta and worked for General Services Administration of the Federal Government until her retirement in 1993. She then worked for The Arthritis Foundation. In 2001, she moved to Blue Ridge. Lou loved cats, the color blue, reading books, working crossword puzzles, and her church. She had a great sense of humor and could light up a room with her smile. Lou is survived by her daughter, Marilou Knight (Rebecca Williams) and her daughters in love, Pam Garrett and Denise Ellwanger. There will be a Celebration of Life Service on September 7, 2019, at the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church at 10:00 AM. To honor Lou, please wear blue and cat items. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of your choice and to Georgia Mountain Hospice.
Mr. Howard William Lynn, age 84, of Turtletown, TN, passed away on August 13, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Cherokee County, NC, he was the son of the late William McKinley “Horace” Lynn and Dora Jane Hayes Lynn. Mr. Lynn was a minister and long time member of the Turtletown Church of God of Prophecy. He loved living for the Lord, preaching and witnessing to people. Howard was a talented musician who loved picking his guitar. He retired after twenty plus years for Tri-State Electric Membership Cooperative maintaining right-of-way as a foreman.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Aaron Kirkland; and two grandsons, Adam Barnett and Todd Kirkland; siblings, Elsie Cole, Mary Smith, Alma Cochran and Harold Lynn.
Survivors include his loving wife, Clara Simonds Lynn of the home; daughters, Patricia Graham of Lyons, GA, Melissa Green of Turtletown, TN and Karen (Barron) Renee Deal also of Turtletown, TN; one sister, Novella Lynn of Turtletown, TN; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ruth Ivester of Blairsville, GA, Nell Hampton of Andrews, NC and John Simonds of Gastonia, NC.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from the Turtletown Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Sam Morrow officiating. Music will be provided by Ryan Crowder. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Wesley Cearley, Adam Greer, Tyler Ramsey, Ryan Crowder, Chris Crowder and Barron Deal. Edith Mae Foster, age 95 of Morganton, GA, passed away Monday, August 12, 2019, at her home.
Mrs. Foster was born November 5, 1923 in Medicine Lodge, KS to the late Jonathan Adams and the late Francis Mathias Adams. Mrs. Foster grew up in Arthur NB and met and married Glen in 1942 in Long Beach California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen E. Foster and sons Billy Joe Foster and Robert Foster.
Survivors include sons: John Foster, Glen Foster, and James Foster; daughters, Fran Payne, Nancy Mote, and Lisa Mallari, nineteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Foster loved spending time with her grandchildren, working crossword puzzles and doing arts and crafts. She will be greatly missed by her family.
A Graveside service will be held at Liberty Hill UMC.

Luther Arvie Jones, age 94 of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away peacefully at his home on August 12, 2019. He was born in Blue Ridge, GA to the late Mark Hannah and Lela Angeline Foster Jones. He served his country proudly in World War II in the United States Air Force. He was in combat in Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He received the War World II Victory medal, Good Conduct medal, and the Purple Heart for injuries received in Germany. Mr. Jones retired with Cities Service as a office manager and was a member of the Tri- State Electric Membership Cooperative Board. He was a lifelong member of the Sugar Creek Baptist Church where he also served as deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife Inez Mary Jones; brothers Rev. Charlie Jones, Alvie Jones and sister Lola Patterson.
He is survived by his son Al (Dana) Jones of Blue Ridge, GA; granddaughter Kelly (Tracy) Mardis; grandson Rev. Mark (Beth) Jones; great-grandsons Tucker and Hudson Mardis, Forrest, Adee and David Jones; brothers Ernest Jones of Epworth, GA, Robert Jones and Kenneth Jones of Blue Ridge, GA; sisters Josephine Jones of Blue Ridge, GA and Ruth Guinn of Alabama.
Funeral arrangements will be conducted on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Akins Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jesse Posey, Rev. Lamar Beason, Rev Mark Jones and Rev. Jerry Banks officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Jerry Davenport, Jim Davenport, Tucker Mardis, Hudson Mardis, Forrest Jones, Adee Jones and David Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present members of the Tri-State Electric Membership Cooperative Board of Directors. Interment will follow in the Sugar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Mrs. Janie Shepherd Key, age 85, of Cherrylog, GA, passed away at home on August 6th, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a 1954 graduate of Grady School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA. She retired from Kennestone Hospital, where she was a neurosurgical nurse, in 1998. Janie was also a member of the Temple Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; Revel and Bertha Shepherd, her sister Linda Shepherd and brother Calvin Shepherd.
Survivors include husband Earl Key, her daughters Kandy Key of Chattanooga,TN and Wendy Capstick of Blairsville, GA and her son Woody Key of Kennesaw, GA; her brothers Bill Shepherd of Melrose, FL, Jesse Shepherd of Archer, FL, and Bob Shepherd of Archer, FL; five grand children and eight great grand children.
Her wishes were to be cremated and a Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
