Recently Brian and Lisa Pritchard were given a tour through the new Healthy Pet Clinic, preceding its grand opening!

Brian Pritchard as he toured the grounds for the new Healthy Pet Clinic.

The Clinic is a low cost clinic formed by the Humane Society of Blue Ridge to ‘provide basic veterinary care to those residents of Fannin County that could otherwise not afford them’.

The new setup will give new options for pet owners by making excellent care and top  notch facilities a reality.

According to the Humane Society of Blue Ridge, “to utilize the clinic, you must apply and demonstrate financial need by providing proof of current financial aid. Once you submit your application with proof of aid, you will be notified of approval and can call to set up an appointment. Each year you can resubmit proof of financial aid to continue to utilize the clinic.”

The humane society has an excellent staff and the pets are given a loving environment until they are able to be placed in their fur-ever homes.

According to the Humane Society of Blue Ridge, If you are not one of the ones in need of a cost affordable pet clinic, please consider partnering with them so someone in need can receive these services.

“Would you consider being a Healthy Pet Hero by signing up to commit at least $20 per month to help subsidize the clinic? We will be operating at a loss each year in order to provide these low-cost services to the community…”

Homeward Bound Pet of the Week: Cacao

Fast & Furriest

Meet Cacao, a sweet little 32# girl who had been obtained for the kids who soon grew bored with the day-to-day care of a dog. The parents then surrendered her to animal control. Little Miss C is a very sweet dog; shy at first but lights up when she gets to know you; especially if you want to play! We believe her to be a schnauzer mix. She will be completely vetted on 2/25.

Homeward Bound Pet of the Week- Fergie

Fast & Furriest

Fergie came to us from animal control in NW Georgia.  She had been found as a stray and nobody claimed her.  This little girl is about 2 years old; 22# and will treat everyone she meets with a waggy tail and puppy kisses.  She loves sitting on your lap and getting hugs.  Fergie is reactive to the other dogs so do not think she’s a good candidate for a multi-pet home but just know that she would be a perfect only pet.

Pug/Cocker/Beagle mix with the cutest underbite you’ve ever seen.  He is shy at first but once he gets to know you, he’s your buddy!  Smokey enjoys a good back rub and you benefit by getting to enjoy his thick, silky coat.  Your reward is his big smile and puppy kisses.

Homeward Bound Pet of the Week: Gordy

Fast & Furriest

Meet Gordy, a 6# chi who was born in July, 2021. He was surrendered along with 2 other chi’s who were living outside. Gordy is a loving little boy, very active and playful. He is getting along well with the fosters’ 2 male dogs. Because of his size and age, we would not recommend little children. Gordy is in a foster home where he is being house trained. He loves to take leash walks and snuggling in a blanket.

Homeward Bound Pet of the Week: Micah

Fast & Furriest

Meet Micah, an 8 month old, 20 lb. lab/flat coat mix. Micah has had a tough life in such a short time. He’s recently been rescued from a hoarding situation with 25+ dogs. He has had limited experience with the human touch until he got to Homeward Bound. We are socializing him with the volunteers and other dogs. He is learning to trust. Micah has never been house trained and we are working on that but it takes consistency that only a home where someone can supervise regularly. He’s catching on and connecting the dots about what to do when he’s out walking. He’s an eager student and am sure he’ll do well.

Homeward Bound Pet of the Week: Domino

Community

365 may be just a number to you but January 9th, will mark how many days Domino has been at the shelter at HBPR. That’s a long time in dog or people years. This boy is not only handsome but is smart. He knows commands; walks great on a leash; house trained; loves to do zoomies and play fetch; a great co-pilot and enjoys just snuggling with his person. However, Domino was not socialized when he lived in a home for a year and is a bit fearful when in public. Domino has had canine friends but would probably do best in a home where he is the only pet with adults and older children. He does not do well with small children or cats. He is 3 years old and weighs around 50 lbs.

Throw A Dog A Bone

Fast & Furriest

Hello HSBR Family!
Have you been to the HSBR Campus lately?  This is where our Adoption Center, Memorial Garden & Dog Park are located, at 171 Mineral Springs Rd…
We mentioned in our last communication that we had a generous sponsor that wanted to help us provide some shade and seating at the dog park, to be installed this summer. THANK YOU ANONYMOUS! 😁
With improvements in mind, we are reviving & renewing a program that we started many years ago and frankly, lost track of.  If you have been to the dog park, you may have seen some “dog bones” with business names or personal names on them.
These bones have recently been taken down – they have been there since before 2014.  The plan originally was to help fund the park with these dog bones on the fences… the idea was to charge $250 per bone, and renewed the same amount annually.
Well, we are back again with fresh signs and a fresh attitude to get this program rolling and get some fun new bones up with up-to-date businesses and families to decorate our dog park.
The cost is $250 per year, paid annually by the date you originally signed up.
The money from this program will help us maintain the park (if you have been there lately, you will have noticed with all the rain & snow we had this winter, it has been quite muddy).  We hope that with this “Throw A Dog A Bone” program, we will be able to better maintain the park for all to enjoy!
So with that, what do you think?  Will you Throw A Dog A Bone?
Designed for You!
These dog bones featured here are examples of the new signs that will go up starting in April.
You can have your logo or family name, or your dog(s) names, or whatever you want on your sign!
Amazon Smile and iGive are two easy ways to give to HSBR while you do your regular shopping online!  Click below on each logo for details
THANK YOU!!!!
