Mrs. Joann Barrett, age 80, of Morganton, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 28, 2020. She was born in Morganton, GA on November 12, 1939 to the late Earl McDaris and Ethel Seabolt McDaris. She worked as a Seamstress for Levi Strauss. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick R. Barrett; and her infant son, Charles Raymond Barrett.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Jeff and Amanda Barrett of Mineral Bluff and Beverly and Greg Rogers of Blue Ridge; grandchildren, Alicia Rose, Jade Underwood, and Travis Barrett; great-grandchildren, Kennedi Rose and Abigail Rose; siblings, David McDaris, Wade McDaris, Cora Stewart, Jeannette Head, and Evalee Bowers;  and special friend, Laura Vesely.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 2:00 PM from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Tim Garrett officiating. Music will be provided by Renee Watkins and Billy Brawley. Interment will follow in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Jeff Barrett, Jade Underwood, Scott Rose, Andrew McDaris, Ryan McDaris, Billy Brawley, and Travis Barrett will serve as pallbearers.
