James William Waters, age 87, of Copperhill, TN passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at his home. Mr. Waters was born in Copperhill, TN on February 10, 1932 to the late Martin Luther Waters and Zellie Allen Waters. He was retired from Tennessee Copper Company where he worked as a rigger, and he was also retired from the Polk County Road Department. Mr. Waters was of the Baptist faith, was a member of Copperhill Lodge #656 F&AM, and a member of Friendship Chapter #499 O.E.S. He was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Lynn Waters and William Waters, and a sister, Myrtle O’Neal.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Waters of the home; sons, Sidney Freeman and Jeff Waters, both of Copperhill, TN; daughters, Vickie Talbert of Epworth, GA and Ethel Waters of Cleveland, TN; brothers, Josh Waters, Charles Waters, and Wendall Waters, all of Copperhill, TN, and George Waters of Benton, TN; 6 grandchildren, Nicholas Waters, Laveta O’Neal, Jeffen Waters, Holly Waters, Samuel Wright, and Franklin Waters; and 7 great grandchildren, Raven Ross, T.J. Ross, Isla Waters, Wyatt Waters, Chance Waters, Emily Wright, Alex Wright, Cohen Davis, Kora Davis and Cane Davis.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 12 noon from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Billy Waters officiating. Masonic rites will be by Copperhill Lodge #656 F&AM. Brethren of Copperhill Lodge #656 and Ducktown Lodge #241 will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion (Tumbling Creek) Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the cemetery fund of your choice or Copperhill Lodge #656 F&AM Orphan Fund P.O. Box 105 Copperhill, TN 37317.
