Maggie Peak Gaddis Cothren, age 90 of Murphy, NC passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Tennova Healthcare in Cleveland, TN. She was born on October 19, 1928 in Spring City, TN to the late Thomas Jefferson Peak and Emma Lou Gaddis Peak. Mrs. Cothren was a homemaker. She loved singing, sewing, gardening, flowers, cooking and square dancing. Mrs. Cothren was a member of Simonds Chapel Baptist Church and The Order of The Eastern Star Martha Chapter #246 O.E.S. Mrs. Cothren was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Avery Cothren and Clyde Gaddis; son, Jerry Clyde Gaddis and sisters, Margaret Sayre and Bertha Hitchcock.

Survivors are her children, Lillian Mae Wright of Mineral Bluff, GA, David W. Gaddis of Copperhill, TN, Lynda Wood (Stanley) of Murphy, NC and Glenda Rose Ledford of Murphy, NC; three grandsons; four granddaughters; ten great-grandchildren; one great-grand daugter; and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening, September 3, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. followed by Funeral Rites provided by Martha Chapter #246 Order of the Eastern Star.  Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Jerry Rice officiating. Music will be by The Golden Sisters. Interment will follow in the Salem #2 Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stanley Wood, Darrell Stallard, Seth Stallard, Keith Gaddis, Michael Stiles and John Hitchcock. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
