Imea Jean Thomas, age 86 of Epworth, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Fannin Regional Hospital. She was born on September 28, 1932 in McCaysville to the late William Erskin Jones and Hattie Elizabeth Curbow Jones. Imea Jean retired from Levi Strauss and Company as a seamstress. She attended McCaysville Church of God. Imea Jean was proceeded in death by her parents; children, Sandra Thomas and Danny Thomas and sisters, Doris Curtis, Mary Lou Harper, Catherine Flowers, Geneva Queen, Jeanette Rentz and Virginia Lee Jones.
Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Steve Lamb officiating. Memories will be shared by Dewayne Housley and Steve Jones. Music will be by Tracey Duez, Dewayne Housley, Beverly Whitmir and Roy Tipton. Interment will follow in the Mobile Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Duez, Greg Jones, Scott Jones, Derrick Thomas, Bradley Thomas, Brandon Long, Max Housley, Austin Galloway and Billy Galloway. The family will receive friends at the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour of 4:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
