Slamfest Stuns Fannin

The Fannin Lady Rebels took on the Buford Lady Wolves Friday night, January 4, 2013. The Lady Wolves had the game from the tipoff, it seemed. They took this game by a score of 63-20. The next game featured the two boys’ squads facing off. That contest was the same as the girls. Buford took that game 80-15.The girls tipped off first at 7:00. From the tip, it seemed that the Buford Lady Wolves might run away with this one.
The Lady Wolves jumped out to an early 21-6 lead at the end of the 1st.
The Lady Rebels only added four points to their score when they headed to the locker rooms at the half.
The Defense and scoring from Hope Cochran(10 points) and Molly Chandler(6 points) was not enough to keep the Lady Rebels competitively in this one, as they lost 63-20.
The matchup between the boys showed much of the same scoring at will but with a twist. Every fast break ended with a dunk or uncontested lay in at the rim.
The Wolves dunked so much that everyone in the crowd was wondering what kind of monstrous slam would be thrown down when Buford stole the ball.
After the 1st quarter, Buford led 29-10. At that point everyone in the crowd was just there to watch and see what Buford would do next.
With a few of these kids holding scholarship offer, and one young man committed to the prestigious University of Tennessee, one could see that Fannin did a good job to put as many points as they did on this team.
Fannin’s leading scorer was Will Patterson, 9 points, and the team was only able to post 15 points on the board against this tough Buford squad. The Wolves took this game 80-15
