Charles Ray “Sonny” Jones, age 64 of Copperhill, TN, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. He was born on April 4, 1955 to the late Sherman Alexanderia and Thelma Louise White Jones. He worked for Thermo Twist, Tice and Shaw Industries for 30 plus years and Kismet Rubber Plant where he retired. He loved going camping and being outdoors. He was very musically inclined and played several string instruments. Sonny loved communicating and repairing CB radios.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Debbie Jones of Copperhill, TN; son Nicholas (Tiffany Hoover) Jones of Young Harris, GA; brother Mack Jones and sister Dale (Haril) Harris of Copperhill, TN; sister-in-law Kelly (Jerry) Bagget of Manchester, TN; 5 grandchildren, Alicia, Spencer, Isaac, Aden and Thomas Jones also survive. He was preceded in death by his brother Earl “Nub” Jones.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 19, 2019 from the chapel of the Akins Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Bryant officiating. Music will be provided by Jessica Taylor and Mary Trembling. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Copperhill, TN with the following serving as pallbearers, Jason Harris, Jeremy Harris, Jesse Harris, William Geisler, Richard Deaver, and Jimmy Bell. Honorary pallbearers are Haril Harris, Kenneth Johnson, Steve Mann, Frank Beeam, Joseph Poteet, Tristan Bell and Donald Jones. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to help defray funeral expenses.
