Fannin Celebrates Senior Night Following Loss to East Hall

An emotional night for Fannin’s seniors did not go as planned, but the team played with a lot of heart as Fannin fell to East Hall 8-7. The game saw lead changes and ties all the way until the end. Just when it looked like the Lady Rebels had it locked up, the Lady Vikings fought back late to take the game. Following the game, the festivities for senior night occurred. Josie Milsaps, Mallory Deal, Jace Armstrong, Amy Mintz and Jordan Deal were recognized.East Hall was able to jump out to an early lead in the top of the first. Two hard hit balls, one of which was a hard line drive over the centerfielder, were essential to the two-run inning for the Lady Vikings.

Fannin was not going to stand for this, as in the bottom of the first the Lady Rebels poured on three runs, courtesy of a three-run homerun by Mallory Deal. If not for a missed call on an apparent tag, the bases would have been loaded for the homerun; nonetheless, the Lady Rebels led 3-2.

In the top of the third, East Hall was able to tie it up on an infield hit and hard liner off the fence. Again the Lady Rebels responded when Mallory Deal hit into a bases loaded fielder’s choice that brought Josie Milsaps home.

In the top of the fifth, East Hall loaded the bases on errors. A flyout to right field brought home a run, but Fannin was able to hold East Hall after that. Fannin failed to score in the bottom half of the fifth inning keeping things knotted up at 4-4.

An East Hall double down the fright field line brought on a pitching change for the Lady Rebels. Kaitlyn Dickey was on to replace Jace Armstrong with a runner on second and no outs. Dickey did her job and held them scoreless.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Rebels made its move. Brooklyn Nazerian drew a walk with two outs after a long at bat. Dickey smacked a line drive that scored Nazean, followed by a Kiersten Seagle liner that brought home Dickey. Lacey Walden came on as a courtesy runner and scored on a Milsaps blooper to left field. When all was said and done, the Lady Rebels led 7-4.

The Lady Rebels was three outs from winning when the defense let down. A few errors allowed four runs to score and put East Hall up 8-7 in the last inning. Fannin was unable to add anything in the bottom of the seventh. Of the eight runs scored for East Hall, only three of them were earned.
