Dr. Seuss Invades Blue Ridge Elementary

Community, Featured Stories

One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish, Cat in the Hat, Sam I Am and, even the Grinch roamed the halls at Blue Ridge Elementary to celebrate the birthday of the world famous author, Dr. Seuss. Laughter filled the hallways as students and staff dressed up as their favorite character from all of the Seuss books and movies. Parents were greeted with children dressed up as Thing 1, Thing 2 and a first grade class had Thing 1, 2, 3, 4…all the way up to Thing 18! Kindergarten teachers dressed the parts of the book “Ten Apples Up On Top” and paraprofessional, Janie Bearden was none other than the Cat in the Hat.

“We wanted to do something different and fun as a grade level”

said Kindergarten teacher, Danette Hughes. The costumes demonstrated creativity, diversity and accuracy and many were “homemade”. The day was a joy for everyone involved but one question remains unanswered…what characters will roam the halls at Blue Ridge Elementary school next year?
