Fannin County Board Of Commissioners Special Called Meeting.

Fannin County- Citizens may start seeing progress on long awaited for Fire Station One. Fannin County Board of Commissioner held a Special Called Meeting on Wednesday. The commissioners came closer to awarding a bid for the new Fire Station One.
Commission Chair Stan Helton Opened the meeting by asking both post commissioners, Earl Johnson and Larry Joe Sosebee, if they believed contractors had enough time to submit bids? Both post commissioners agreed that there was enough time to submit bids. The motion carried to continue opening bids.
Out of the five potential bids only two were submitted. The First bid was submitted by Engineered Structures Incorporated in the amount of $2,876,706 according to Engineered Structures Incorporated the project would take 39 calendar weeks for them to complete. Design Works Principal Architect Rick Larosa Indicated that the county has experience with this contractor, they built the Fannin County Recreation Center.
The second bid was submitted by DA Edwards and Company in the amount of $4,760,658 according to DA Edwards and Company the project would take 52 calendar weeks for them to complete the project. There was no indication that the county had ever worked with the company before.
The Commissioners decided to table the bids until the June 13th meeting. Though it seems that Engineered Structures Incorporated was the favorite with Helton commenting “ I mean at this point it’s obvious that Engineered Structures is the way to go so I guess we could tentatively say, I mean i’m speaking for me”. The post commissioners were in agreement with the Helton’s statement.
