The Fannin County High School Rebels football team had a exciting and emotional Homecoming win Friday as the “Boys in Blue” beat the Leopards of Banks County 30-23.
Fannin started the game kicking off to the Leopards and holding Banks to a quick three and out as the defense came out strong.

Brad Davis’ pass ended up in the wrong hands throwing a pick six in his first pass attempt of the night. The Leopards ended up missing the point after attempt to make the score 0-6 with ten minutes left in the first.

Tyler Beaver and Cody Jacobs got the ball rolling for the Rebels, but the drive fell short ending with a Davis quick punt that put Banks County deep in Leopard territory.

Beaver took over the ground game for the Rebels, going for over 240 yards on the Homecoming night. Beaver’s effort got the ball down for a 31 yard Kai Russell field goal that cut the lead in half, 3-6.

Banks put up another TD drive, scoring with 4 minutes left in the first half of the game, making the score 13-3.

Daniel Lange started the ensuing drive with a 43 yard catch, that put the Rebels deep in Leopard territory. Beaver finished the drill, with a two yard touchdown run that cut the lead to four, 13-9, with two minutes in the half.

Banks County had an effective two minute drill, scoring a field goal as time expired on the clock to make the half time score of 16-9.

Fannin came out of the locker room on a mission, quickly getting Beaver into the end zone to pull the Rebels within one, 16-15.

After holding the Leopards, Cody Jacobs took the ball across the goal line for the Rebels, making the score 23-16 in Fannin’s favor, after Cooper Earls completed a two point conversion.

The Rebels couldn’t convert on a Dillion Frank fumble recovery as the Leopards got the ball back and punched it into the end zone with 3:43 to make the score 23 all.

Beaver pushed the ball down to the seven as the rain started to pour in the fourth quarter. Russell would miss a field goal with 1:43 left in the game.

Fannin’s defense stood up to the challenge holding the Leopards. After a Logan Ledford punt block, the Rebels ended up with the ball with 19 seconds left on the clock. A pass from Davis to Beaver put the game away with a mere 7.4 seconds left in the game.

Fannin took the game with a final of 30-23 on Homecoming 2014.
