Lady Rebels 1-2 at Lanier Point Park

The Fannin High School Lady Rebels softball team opened the season with the annual trip to Lanier Point Park. The Lady Rebels went 1-2 with a 7-4 win over Chestatee and losses to Gilmer and Lanier.The Chestatee win saw the Lady Rebels take an early lead after Allie Barfield single scored Stefanie Tatum giving Fannin a 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the first; however, Chestatee answered with three runs to take a 3-1 lead into the second inning.

Two Chestatee errors in the top of the second led to runs from Bailey Jones and Brooklyn Nazerian which tied the game at 3-3; however, Chestatee took the lead again with a run scored in the bottom of the third.

Three Lady Rebels’ runs in the top of the fourth secured a lead for the Ladies in Blue that was not relinquished. Ashley Rhodes left field double scored Tatum to tie the game. A Barfield single scored Rhodes to take the lead, and Tori Welch’s left field double scored Rhodes, giving the Lady Rebels a 6-4 lead going into the fifth.

Jones scored the last run of the game to take the 7-4 victory.

The Lady Rebels struggled offensively in the second game, falling to Gilmer 6-0. The Lady Rebels gave up two runs in the first, third and fourth innings in the loss.

Fannin fell to Lanier in a late game, 7-1, despite six hits. Haley Bearden’s RBI single scored Kaitlyn Dickey for the Rebels lone run of the game.
