Wrestling Rebels Mangle Murphy and Upend Union

The Fannin County High School Rebels wrestling team hosted the Union County and Murphy NC teams in a Tri-Dual Meet. The two seniors from the 2013-14 season, Blake Carroll and Matthew Seabolt, were honored as well. Murphy was mangled 54-24, in a Rebels rout, followed by a 63-18 pounding of the Panthers of Union.The Murphy match saw nine Rebels come away with wins: Stuart Chancey; Cameron Pigott; Seabolt; Tyler Collis; Webb; Carpenter; Mendosa; Rhodes; and Carroll.

The Rebels saw 11 wrestlers take match victories in the pummeling of the Panthers: Barriault; Stuart; Chancey; Pigott; Collis; Seabolt; McClure; Webb; Carpenter; Carroll; and Rhodes.

The Rebels recently took part in the Buford Duals as well, posting a 3-2 record in the tournament. With wins over Monroe (51-16), Mountain View (66-12), and Walnut Grove (34-24).

The two losses came at the hands of Dunwoody (54-24), and South Forsyth (72-9) respectively.

The junior varsity wrestlers took a trip to North Hall to take part in the JV Trojan War, with all Fannin wrestlers in attendance winning at least one match during the tournament.

The Rebels ride to Towns County Friday and Saturday December 6-7 to take part in the “King of the Mountain” tournament.
