Trojans ease through Fannin

The Fannin County High School Rebels football team, hosted the 5-0 Trojans of North Hall. The oversized Trojans easily took the victory, 62-7, leaving the Rebels to a 1-5 record on the season.On the opening drive of the game, the Trojans looked to get the run game underway, moving the ball down to the Rebels’ 14 yard line before scoring a 14 yard touchdown pass and reception. This quick score came with 10:18 left in the first quarter making the score 6-0 after a Trojan missed PAT.

Junior Jacob Greer set to return the ball on the ensuing kickoff. Greer gave life into the Rebels as he took off and was brought down 47 yards later in Trojan territory; however, four plays later Fannin failed on fourth down, giving the ball back to North Hall.

The knockout blow for the Rebels came only 3 plays later when the Trojans took off for a 52 yard TD sprint.

After a completed 2-point conversion, North Hall went up 14-0 with 8:03 left in the first. Disaster struck for Fannin, as the Trojans forced a fumble and recovered the ball deep in Rebel territory.

This set up another quick score putting North Hall on top 21-0 with 6:02 left in the first.

On the ensuing drive the boys in blue got Fannin its first first down on the night, but the success would not last long. Four plays later Fannin’s punt was blocked and recovered on the Rebel 6 yard line. This set up another Trojan rushing TD making the score 28-0.

Seniors Noah O’Neal and Trevor Stone got the crowd back in the game with a 47 yard reception to open up the next drive for the Rebels. However, the Rebels again turned the ball over on downs. The Trojans started with a long field to work with.

Senior Mason Buchanan picked up a huge solo sack putting the Trojans’ offense in even worse field position. This was not enough though, the Trojans picked up a TD on the next play after a long screen pass.

This put the score at 34-0 with 9:41 left in the second quarter. The Trojans were not done in the first half. After a quick three and out by Fannin, North Hall found the end zone on an 11 yard reverse putting the score at 42-0.

By the time the bell rang for half time the Trojans had tacked on one more TD to make it 48-0 as they missed the PAT.

On the first possession of the second half the Trojans made the score 55-0. Hunter Rice helped pick up 30 yard for the Rebels as he went up and brought down a Stone pass on the ensuing drive.

This big gain set up a TD pass to O’Neal to put the Rebels on the board. 55-7

Before the final whistle was blown the Trojans would add 7 more points to make the final 62-7.

The Rebels are in action again on Friday as the team will travel to Banks County for the Region matchup.
