Callihan Claims Spot at State

The Fannin County High School Rebels wrestling team traveled to Ringgold to take part in the AAA sectional tournament. Three wrestlers participated: Kayleb Chancey (106); Sean Callihan (182) and Blake Callihan (195). All three placed top sixth or higher. Blake Callihan, who placed fourth, will move on to the state tournament in Macon.The top four wrestlers from the sectionals tournament move on to the state tournament. Despite Chancey placing as one of the top 10 wrestlers in AAA in the 106 weight class, and Sean Callihan placing as one of the top 12 at 182 only Blake Callihan will take part in the State Traditional tournament.

Rebels head coach, Joshua Snider, was extremely proud of his team and its accomplishments and it’s continued improvement.

“Last year we had Sean Callihan place sixth in Area. No one went to Sectionals or State. This year five people placed in Area, three went to Sectional and one is going to State. That is a huge improvement for Fannin County wrestling, and is a huge step in the right dircection.”

He also said,

“All of the young men competed well and have made Fannin County proud.”
