Earl Johnson Takes Post One Seat

Following a tight election and runoff, Earl Johnson took his seat on the board of commissioners this week. During the September 11th meeting, Chairman Bill Simonds and Post Two Commissioner Larry Jo Sosebee welcomed Johnson to the board. Johnson’s position, however, is temporary, to fill the unexpired term of Garnett Webb. Webb left his post in May to run for the commission chair position, but was eliminated in the July primaries, losing to Incumbent Commission Chair Bill Simonds. Simonds faces no opposition in November. Johnson, though, will face Democrat Dr, William Mitchell.
