Betty Jean Mitchell

July 08, 1934 – January 30, 2019

Betty Jean Mitchell, age 84, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. Born on July 8, 1934 in Blue Ridge, GA, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Stella Panter Kendall. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She retired as a Sewing Machine Operator for Levi Strauss. Mrs. Mitchell is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Mitchell; and one sister, Violet Kendall; and two brothers, Larry and Von Kendall.

Survivors include two sons, George Mitchell Rogers and Stephen Mark Mitchell both of Blue Ridge, GA; two daughters and one son-in-law, Rhonda and Bill Sowers of Blue Ridge, GA and Sandra Allen of Epworth, GA; grandchildren, Eric Sowers, Nathan Sowers, Daniel Allen, Carrie Anderson and Mandy Walker; twelve great grandchildren, Sydney Allen, Shaun Allen, Sara Allen, Seth Allen, Silas Allen, Sawyer Allen, Alex Anderson, Leia Anderson, Nathalie Sowers, Grayson Sowers, Landon Mitchell-Kendall and Brantley Walker; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Bob Henry Kendall, Jerry Kendall both of Blue Ridge, GA, Barney and Betty Kendall of Canton, GA and Victor and Debbie Kendall also of Blue Ridge, GA; four sisters, Mary Jo Collins of Morganton, GA, Laura Bramlett of Marietta, GA, Dorothy Griffin of Austell, GA and Velma Dale Lord of Ellijay, GA.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. from Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Scott Baugh officiating. Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park. Eric Sowers, Nathan Sowers, Daniel Allen, Drew Anderson, Waylon Collins and Jim Robinson served as pallbearers.  Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of the arrangements.
