William “Alley” Bruce

November 11, 1937 – January 09, 2019

William “Alley” Bruce, age 81, of the Postelle Community, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019. “Alley” was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a son of the late Cecil and Bonnie Patterson Bruce. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Postelle, and was a self employed Contractor. He served as the Polk County Road Supertendent for eight years.

Alley is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Faye Satterfield Bruce; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa (Kyle) Marlow of Dalton, GA, Karen (T.K.) Martin of Woodstock, GA, Sheilah Leigh Bruce of Cherokee Hills, Ducktown, TN; brothers, Sam Bruce of Atlanta, GA, Guinn Bruce of California, Pete Bruce of Knoxville, TN; sister, Scellous Levins of Atlanta, GA; Special granddaughter, McKenzi Marlow of Dalton, GA; many other relative and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Terry Gladson officiating. Music will be by Brownie and Vicky Whittenbarger. Pallbearers include, Kyle Marlow, T.K. Martin, Eugene Satterfield, Brandon Arp, Jason Arp, Jeff Bruce; Honorary pallbearers include, Jimmy Davis, Pete Davis, Steve Gaddis and John Fowler. Interment will follow at the Zion Hill Baptist church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Condolences to the family may be sent online to www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
