Ranel Wayne McClure

December 26, 1937 – January 3, 2019

Ranel Wayne McClure, age 81, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 in Blue Ridge. He was born on December 26, 1937 in Gilmer County. He was a member of the Mineral Bluff House of Prayer. He retired from Gold Kist where he was Supervisor of the Packing Department for 25 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arvil and Emily Fowler McClure and his first wife, Judy McClure.

He is survived by his wife, Reba Patterson McClure; children, Randy McClure, Janie Hice, and Lisa Loman, all of Ellijay; stepchildren, Calvin (Joan) Queen of Blue Ridge and Tim (Gail) Queen of Ellijay; brothers, Benny McClure of Blue Ridge, Bobby McClure of Canton, and Johnny McClure of Ellijay; sisters, Betty Davenport and Barbara Watkins of Cherry Log; Ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. from Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leonard Hunter officiating. Interment followed in the Hot House Baptist Church Cemetery. William McClure, John McClure, Jason McClure, Ardell McClure, Scott Watkins, and Michael Watkins served as pallbearers.  Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of the arrangements.
