Fannin County School System has an urgent need for substitute bus drivers.  The drivers need to be available from 6-8 am in the morning and 3-5 pm in the afternoon.  During high school football season, the need is even greater.  Substitute bus drivers generally receive their schedules on Friday.  However, there would be some mornings when they need to fill in for full-time drivers who are sick.

Benny Long, Director of Transportation and Safety for Fannin County School System, states that the daily wage for substitute bus drivers is $51, which comes to about $12.75 per hour.  The school system also pays for CDL training for bus drivers.  This means that a new bus driver receives about $1,000 in free training and will have a lifetime CDL certificate.

The average age of Fannin County school bus drivers is 55, with the age range going from 23 to 70.  To become a driver, a person must pass a background check, drug testing and a physical required for a CDL license.
