The 8th Annual Taste of Blue Ridge, benefiting Humane Society of Blue Ridge, was held Saturday, April 18th at Willow Creek Falls & Vineyard. The 8th annual Taste of Blue Ridge was sold out for the 6th straight year. More than 525 attendees enjoyed delicious food from over 35 local restaurants and wine & beer groups. The event was held in the beautiful Willow Creek Falls & Vineyard. There were over 70 volunteers working to ensure it ran smoothly. Plans for the event began in December and it received over 250 donations for the auctions. The poster for Taste of Blue Ridge this year was created by Carli Goins, a student at Fannin County High School. Ms. Goins won a contest the Humane Society sponsored through the school’s art department. They were able to auction off 2 framed posters that Goins autographed.

New this year for the event was the opportunity to donate specific items for the shelter such as dog kennels, dog runs, pet bowls, and special pet beds. There is a lot of interest in those items. Last year the event netted approximately $40,000 and with the excellent turnout this year and generous response from the community there is hope to meet or exceed that number.
