Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Richard Evans, age 83, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away on Friday evening, October 4, 2013 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.Mr. Evans was born in Tennessee on February 2, 1930 and lived his entire life in this area. He was a member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church in Blairsville. Mr. Evans enjoyed having a vegetable garden and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inda Helton Evans, and a son, Arlen Evans.
Surviving family members include a daughter, Arlene Hughes; and a son, Larry Evans; a sister, Judy Panter, of Blairsville; and a grandson, Earl Hughes.
Graveside services for Mr. Evans have been scheduled for Monday, October 7, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., in Sugar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, October 6, 2013, between the hours of 6 until 8 p.m.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Union County Nursing Home staff, who took such great care of Mr. Evans. Any memorial contributions may be directed to the Union County Nursing Home.
