The Fannin County High School Lady Rebels volleyball team hosted the Copper Basin Lady Cougars, sweeping both sets for the win (25-5, 25-9). Before the game began the six graduating seniors: Hope Cochran; Madison Franklin; Halle Dean; Courtney Eggleston; Hailey Queen; and Laurel Sabadosh; were all honored in a brief “Senior Night” ceremony before the game.The Lady Rebels took to the court dominating early and often in the first set. Fannin forced a “Basin” time out, with a 6-1 lead that quickly ballooned to a 10-2 lead. The Lady Rebels eventually pulled out a 25-5 first set victory.

The second set began much closer, featuring five ties, and three lead changes in the first 16 points scored. Fannin jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Lady Cougars leapt back into the game, tying the game up at 2-2. A point later, “Basin” had its first lead of the day.

Two straight kills from Molly Chandler, put the Lady Rebels up 4-3; however, the Lady Cougars scored three straight points to take a 7-4 lead.

Successive kills from Sabadosh and Chandler, followed by an Ace by Brittany Abt, tied the game at 7-7.

Chandler’s block/kill put the lady Rebels up 8-7; however, a “Basin” kill tied the game at 8-8.

The Lady Rebels allowed only one more point, outscoring the Lady Cougars 17-1 to take the second set, 25-9 and the match 2-0.
