Warriors Come Out to Play: Run Over Rebels 48-13

Fannin had its hands full Friday night, as the football Rebels of Fannin County High School hopped on the buses for the first time this year to travel to White County to face the Warriors. The Warriors’ run game walked all over the Rebels’ defense in a 48-13 White County victory.Fannin started the game with the ball, but a quick three and out followed by a short punt showed it was going to be a long night. The Rebels held strong after the short kick; Fannin held the Warriors to a three and out. After a failed White County fake punt, Fannin was back in business.

Penalties prevented the Rebels from running many plays on the drive, resulting in another punt; however, the Warriors battled through the Rebels’ offensive line, and blocked the punt resulting in a first and ten for White County on the Fannin 38 yard line.

White County took advantage of the short field, scoring a touchdown from the one yard line to take a 6-0 lead.

After a Jerod Petty block of the P.A.T. the score remained 6-0. Peyton Satterfield would get to work on the ground giving Fannin its first few first downs. The Rebel’s air attack did not take off resulting in yet another Rebels’ punt.

The Warriors last play of the first quarter was a 40 plus yard run to set up shop on the Fannin 15. A mere three plays later the Warriors found the end zone putting the home team up 13-0.

The Rebels needed a momentum change. Peyton Satterfield provided just that as he took off, running 51 yards to the end zone on the ensuing drive. After a missed extra point the score would be 13-6.

This change of emotion would not last long. The Warriors first play on the next drive went for 39 yards plus 15 yards were tacked on due to a personal foul against the Rebels. White County walked in for a 10 yard untouched TD in the following plays.

With just a few minutes left in the first half, Fannin looked to make a drive to get back in the game. White County spent most of the drive in the back field pushing the Rebels back to its on goal line.

Trying to get some room for the punter, the Fannin looked to throw a screen pass on third and long. The pass was picked off on the 5 yard line with the Warriors’ defender making it into the end zone for a pick six.

The Warriors had another opportunity to score but fumbled the ball in the end zone with a Rebel falling on the loose ball. This put the half time score at 27-6.

The second half showed to be all Warriors as well. Only 43 seconds would pass in the third quarter until a 34 yard TD run occurred putting White County up 34-6.

Fannin would gain a little spark of light as the Rebels’ defense forced and recovered a fumble deep in White County territory. A Noah O’Neal catch set up a two yard Satterfield touchdown run; the last Rebels’ score of the night.

White kept running the ball adding two more TDs before the final bell blew with final score being 48-13.

Fannin will be looking to find its first road victory, as the Rebels ride to Murphy on Friday September 20th to take on the Bulldogs. Murphy faced and was handled pretty handily by Gilmer in an unscored scrimmage before the season. It will be a tough match up with the Rebels eager for another victory.
