Fannin County could be seeing stars come this June as the DreamWorks film, The Need for Speed comes to Blue Ridge to film at the Swan Drive In. Saturday, March 30th, hundreds of men and women flocked to Ted Weaver’s Body Shop in Blue Ridge to have their photo taken and added to the pile of possible extras to be used in the movie. Aside from the need of extra people, the DreamWorks film also needs over 300 classic cars to use in the movie. That fueled the pile of cars that filled the streets of Blue Ridge.

Tammy Smith, with Tammy Smith casting said that she was pleased with the significant turn out.

“I was a little concerned because I knew that older people are the ones that have the cars but we want to cast younger people but it all worked out because the young people came out without the cars”

she said. Smith also went on to say that she thinks she will be able to use a lot of local people in the filming process.

Filming dates are set for the nights of June 19th and 20th. Discussions of a second casting call being held in May have taken place but have not been confirmed yet. FYN will keep you up to date on the events of the upcoming movie.
