Rebels Ride to Cass Colonels’ Casa: Fannin Splits 1-1
Featured Stories December 5, 2011 , by LT MeltonThe Fannin High School Rebels and Lady Rebels basketball teams traveled to Cass High School in Cartersville to take on the Colonels. The teams split victories, with the Lady Rebels posting a 12 point 56-44 win. The Rebels’ boys’ squad did not fair as well, as Fannin fell 62-24.The first half of the girls’ game was a back and forth affair that saw the Lady Rebels take a two point, 20-18, lead into the half.


The Lady Rebels came out in the second half with a full court press, which caused several turnovers; however, the Colonels fought through and went into the fourth quarter down one 34-33.
The Lady Rebels began to pull away in the latter stages of the fourth quarter, eventually winning 56-44.
The male Rebels counterpart did not come out on top, as the Colonels went to war early and often. The Colonels raced out to an 8-0 lead and never looked back. By the end of the firs quarter Cass led 21-6, a lead to that increased to 23-11 at half time.
The second half was more of the same as Cass continued to crash the glass, getting second and third shot opportunities while holding the Rebels to one shot possessions. The Colonels outrebounded the Rebels 39-24.
The fourth quarter saw both teams empty the bench as Cass cruised to a 62-24 victory.
