Fannin County Young Farmers Association hosted the Annual Pigs on the Ridge Market Hog Show. 4-H and FFA members from Fannin County, Walker County and Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe

participated. Sponsors for the event were Fannin County FFA Alumni Association, Fannin County High School and Middle School FFA Chapters, Fannin County

Young Farmers Association, Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe FFA Chapter and Ocoee Animal Hospital. Nicholson Tire Repair and Uhaul sponsored the meal that was served to all exhibitors and families.

Each exhibitor showed in both a showmanship class which is based on their grade in school, only the 1st place exhibitor was chosen in each class and a class based on the weight of the pig, there were a total of 20 classes. Kip Williams Murray County agriculture teacher and Young Farmer Advisor judged the show.

Fannin County Exhibitor results:

Emilee Thomas placed 1st in Showmanship, 1st in weight class, won the Master Showman Award and also Grand Champion,

Blake Nicholson placed 1st in showmanship, 1st and 1st in weight class and won Reserve Champion,

Ethan Deal placed 1st in Showmanship and 3rd in weight class,

Roy Green placed 2nd in weight class,

Jacob Williams placed 5th in weight class,

Slade Epperson placed both 2nd and 3rd in weight class

Lance Stewart placed 6th in weight class

Zoe Putnam placed 1st in weight class

Madie Freeman placed 1st in showmanship and 2nd in weight class

Thomas Green placed 1st in weight class

The Fannin County FFA Market Hog Show Team will be exhibiting their projects at the Swine Spectacular in Gilmer County on February 5-6 and also the Georgia Jr. National Livestock Show in Perry on February 17-20.

The Fannin County Young Farmers Association Gun Raffle was won by Mrs. Theresa Wollschlager. Theresa won the Henry Trump Edition .22 Rifle that was donated to the FCYFA by Ace Hardware in Blue Ridge. Fannin County Young Farmers Association would like to thank Ace Hardware and everyone who purchased a ticket.
