The Fannin County Rebels were able to get their first series sweep of the year against Gordon Central last week. After two straight games of scoring at least seven runs, the Rebels bats got cold and they weren’t able to get anything going offensively in their following games against Dade County and are currently on a 2 game losing skid.

In the first game of the Rebels series against Gordon Central there were runs galore, as they beat the Warriors 7-0.

Those hot bats carried over into the second game of the series that Friday where they thumped the Warriors 11-2. In the second game of the series 8 rebels picked up hits, but no one was better at the plate than Senior Brady Martin. Martin went three for five at the plate with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Chance Stacy was on the mound for the Rebels in their 11-2 win, lasting four innings and allowing 4 hits and two runs while striking out seven and walking zero. Jordan Bennet and Bradley Holloway helped close out the game for the Rebs.

In their two games against Dade County the following week, Fannin wasn’t quite as perfect at the plate.

In their first game against Dade, Fannin was in it until the end. Holloway and Logan Hughes drove in runs and the score was tied up at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth, until Dade County drew a walk with the bases loaded that scored the winning run. Fannin lost 4-2.

In last nights game against Dade, the Wolverines just pulled away early and the Rebels could never climb back within striking distance.

Fannin was not able to contain the high powered offense of the Wolverines ultimately falling 11-5. Jason Pearson, Carter Mann, Holloway, and Martin all had RBIs in the game. Holloway went yard in the seventh inning for the only homer of the game.

Fannin is scheduled to play at Dade County on Friday and will look to end their 2 game slump.
