FANNIN COUNTY, Ga. — Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the investigation into a severely malnourished Basset Hound rescued from a Morganton residence, according to the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began after Fannin County Animal Control responded to a call on January 24 and recovered an eight-year-old Basset Hound named Dolly.
Officials said the dog was reportedly unresponsive when she was discovered and was transported by Animal Control to a local veterinarian for emergency treatment.
Kristin Lynn Franklin, 30, and Levi Jehu Franklin, 31, both of Morganton, were arrested on February 4 and each charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.

Both individuals were booked into the Fannin County Detention Center.
The suspects were arrested at a residence on Lake Drive in Morganton and were taken into custody by the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office, according to the booking report.
A source previously confirmed that Dolly is receiving veterinary care and showing signs of improvement.
A second dog, identified as Cash, is also involved in the investigation.
The case remains an active investigation.
