LATEST UPDATE: The fire has been contained. Fannin County is now under a burn ban until further notice.

“The Burn ban for Fannin County includes fire pits, outdoor fireplaces and charcoal grills. Gas grills and gas turkey fryers are allowed as long as extreme caution is observed and as long as attended.”

UPDATE: The fire has been contained to a ground fire.

The Fannin County Emergency Management Agency stated, “approximately 9 residential structures are currently being protected by Fannin County Firefighters, US Forest Service Firefighters and Geogia Forestry Firefighters.”

The agency also cautioned that the fire is still expected to continue to spread until rain moves in early this morning.

There is still a large presence of safety personnel and crews working to subdue to fire.

FANNIN COUNTY, Ga. – An evacuation order has been issued by Fannin County Emergency Management Agency for all residents in Whispering Lake Subdivision.

The agency states that there is ‘currently a large brush fire in Whispering Lake Subdivision off of Bullen Gap Rd with several structures in danger’.

It appears that there are multiple acres on fire.
Also, it should be noted that Fannin County is currently under a burn ban until Dec. 16 and there is currently a high wind advisory until tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.

The agency stated all residents in Whispering Lake Subdivision should evacuate.
