If you thought that she was too busy with her project, Blessing Backs with Packs, think again. Cassie Stepp recently put together her second annual Kids Day at Kiwanis FairGround. 

Stepp is a recent graduate of Fannin County High School who plans on attending Kennesaw State University in the Fall to major in Entrepreneurship. About a year ago, the team here at Fetch Your News (FYN) had the opportunity to report on Stepp’s local project to help the homeless, which she called “Blessing Backs with Packs.” Throughout the year, Stepp has continued to work on her project and caused it to grow immensely. She was able to get the name of her project out there and grab the attention of the community. Cassie did this by creating accounts on social media and is currently making a website for the organization. She managed to grab the attention of the Georgia Association of Colleges and Employers (GACE) and was the recipient of their annual conference meeting donations. Every year, GACE holds a drive for one organization and they saw it fit that Blessing Back with Packs receive the items. Stepp is even on the homestretch of meeting her goal of Blessing Backs with Packs becoming a nonprofit organization! The process has taken a lot of hard work and planning. Cassie scheduled several meetings and raised money for her license by going to local stores and asking for donations to give away in a raffle. She expects to have the official title in just a few months. If this doesn’t seem like enough for a college student to handle, she was planning for another event the whole time!

 The Kids Day consisted of free activities for families who may not be able to afford to do fun things with their children like go on vacations. People of all ages were welcome to the event. There were so many things for families to enjoy all day long. For example, there was face painting, princesses and superheroes, bounce houses, a raffle to win a bike, carnival games, delicious food, and so much more! 

When asking Stepp about her inspiration to create the day, she responded, “This has always been something that I have wanted to do. I feel like every kid should have something they can talk about with their friends when they go back to school.” 

Over 200 people attended the event, not even including the 60 volunteers! You could feel the joy at Kiwanis FairGround that day as families could let go of their worries and enjoy a free day of fun. 

“Thank you to everyone who came out and volunteered or donated in some way. Without you all, this day couldn’t have been successful,” Stepp shared with the FYN team.
