Copperhill Mayor agrees with Tri-State EMC to take down lights at ballpark

Copperhill City Council was called to order by Mayor Kathy Stewart. Those attending were Aldermen Ray Tanner, Scott Brooks, and Alderwoman Tara Akins along with City Recorder Suzanne Hughes. Absent was Alderman Bill Standridge.

Stewart advised the Council the lights and poles surrounding the city’s ballpark on West Tennessee Avenue will be removed by Tri-State EMC.

The lights at the ballpark had been deteriorating for some time. Speaking with Manager of Operations at Tri-State EMC, Terry Arp, the city and Tri-State verbally agreed to remove the lights and poles as soon the weather permits.

In other business, the Council agreed to:

• Purchase time clocks from Amazon for $102.00.
• To change from Saratoga to MSA Business Technology out of Chattanooga. The City would save $208.00 a year on printers and shredders.

It was also noted at the meeting, the Polk County Sheriff’s Department was traveling more on West Tennessee Avenue where suspicious activities had been reported in the past.

The next City Council meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. March 18, 2019, at Copperhill City Hall.
