This past Tuesday, the North Hall Trojans traveled to Fannin County High School to take on the Rebels. Fannin had already played the Trojans once this season where they lost 47-40. The Rebels were so close to victory the last time they played them and hoped to not let it slip by this time around.
Brady Martin led Fannin in scoring for the night with six points as he was on fire with his outside shots. Although the sophomore was solid above the key, the Trojans were experts at faking shots then driving the ball in for a basket. North Hall was able to take a small 9-7 lead over Fannin to end the first quarter.
With each team wanting the lead as bad as the other, they both showed hustle and heart. There were loose balls everywhere and steal after steal on both teams parts. Senior, Joel Kinser, worked hard and added to Fannin’s score. Kinser added two points from the free throw line after drawing fouls from the block. The Rebels still trailed behind the Trojans as they went into halftime with a score of 16-11.
Cohutta Hyde showed off his speed as he sped up the court and had great passes inside to the posts, Jalen Ingram and Nathaniel Garrison. Hyde added four points to Fannins score while both of the posts did the same. As the Rebels started to catch up to the Trojans, they started to tighten up their defense. They made it harder for Fannin to get to the basket and started to have some three point action of their own. As North Hall extended their lead, Chase Culpepper made a buzzer beater three point shot to end the third quarter with The Trojans ahead 32-18.
Fannin started to lose their intensity at the start of the fourth quarter. The Trojans continued to advance their score while the Rebels were only able to add a few more points to theirs. As the buzzer sounded to end the game, North Hall found themselves with a 44-23 victory over the Rebels. Fannins loss put their overall record at 3-17 and their region record at 0-8.
