Freezing rain possible in north Georgia Monday morning, delays and closings announced

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia, issued a winter weather advisory Sunday, Jan. 7, at 3 p.m. for Monday morning in parts of north Georgia.
…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM TO NOON EST MONDAY…
* WHAT…Light freezing rain is expected to develop very late tonight into Monday morning. Total ice accumulations of a light glaze to less than a tenth of an inch are expected.
* WHERE…Portions of North and Central Georgia including the Atlanta metro.
* WHEN…From 5 AM to noon EST Monday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…The freezing rain will result in difficult travel conditions, including during the morning commute on Monday. Elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses will be most susceptible to icing.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.
Because of potential for winter weather, Fannin County government offices will delay opening until noon tomorrow. The Fannin County Health Department will open at 12p.m. All non-essential state will be closed Monday.
Blue Ridge City Hall will also delay opening until noon. Municipal court is still scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Department of Family and Children services of Fannin County will be closed due to unsafe weather conditions.
Fannin County Juvenile Court will be cancelled tomorrow, Jan. 8.
Family Connection announced that its Food Pantry will follow the schedule of Fannin County Courthouse offices, and will delay opening until noon.
Also, the Fannin County School System announced all Fannin County Schools will be closed Monday. All 12-month personnel, however, should report at noon.
