Rowan Shewmake is one of those 34,000 to receive this honor.

This isn’t the first honor Shewmake has received. Last year, Shewmake was awarded a scholarship for his outstanding work in the field of science.
“I’m planning on going to college to study Physics at Georgia Tech,” Shewmake said when asked about his future academic plans. Shewmake explained that ultimately he would like to attend Princeton University.

A spokesperson from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation said, “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
