Labor Day in Downtown Blue Ridge
Community September 6, 2017
BLUE RIDGE, GA – Thousands came to the mountains of North Georgia this Labor Day weekend and celebrated the holiday visiting our local attractions, natural scenery, and our unique business district.
The Good Samaritans of Fannin County, Inc. held their 38th Annual Labor Day Bar-B-Q in downtown Blue Ridge. This three day event attracted several hundred visitors each day.
Saturday afternoon featured a small arts festival dubbed Pic-Nic-Nac in the Park. Artisans set up under tents to display and sell their works. Set up alongside the area artists were local nonprofits and churches.
Sunday evening was highlighted with a community worship service from various denominations within our county. This service was immediately followed by an old fashioned ice cream social.
The largest event of the weekend was held on Monday. Hundreds of residents and visitors alike came downtown to sample some of our area’s best Bar-B-Q. Patrons were treated to live bluegrass and gospel music as they enjoyed their afternoon in the park.
The Good Samaritans of Fannin County, Inc. is an open association of area churches. These churches reach across denominational borders to join together in raising funds for Fannin County neighbors in need.
