Thomas “Tommy” George Lackey, age 72, of McCaysville, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in Chattanooga, TN. Born on September 21, 1944 in Epworth, he was the son of the late Laura Lee Lewis. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his children with a passion. He loved old cars, enjoyed the outdoors, cooking, piddling at his hunting camp, and was a NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Chevrolets. He worked as a Lineman Foreman for Tri-State EMC.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy C. Lackey of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Amanda Lackey of Epworth; daughter and son-in-law, Keri and Stacy Van Zandt of Dial; grandchildren, Ava Lackey, Ella Lackey, Taylor Van Zandt, Jacob Van Zandt, and Wyatt Van Zandt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles R. and Brenda Lewis of Epworth; Terry and Darlene Lewis of Blue Ridge, and Sam and Lora Lewis of Blue Ridge.
The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening, March 11, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Mr. Lackey’s wishes were to be cremated.
