Shirley Christine Fortner, age 66, of McCaysville, GA passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017. Mrs. Fortner was born in McCaysville to the late Lush and Nellie Queen Payne. She was a homemaker and loved her family. She was a member of Mobile Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, James Fortner of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Dale (Megan) Fortner of McCaysville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Becky (Richard) Clark of McCaysville, GA; brothers, Eddie (Brenda) Payne of Dalton, GA, Bill (Trish) Payne of Epworth, GA; sisters, Betty (Dan) Yarborough of Sweetwater, TN, Willa Mae Lanham and Steve Massengale of McCaysville, GA; grandchildren, Alec & Christina Geisler, Ritchie Clark, Tallie Fortner, Bailee Stiles and Addyson Plott.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, February 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mobile Baptist Church with Rev. Buddy Carter officiating. Music was by Ed Vest and Jan Pelfrey. Pallbearers included, Alec Geisler, Shannon Payne, Connor Payne, Albert Green, Jason Lanham and Jon Lanham. Honorary pallbearers included, Keith Dilbeck, Nathan Yarborough, Michael Payne, Charlotte Hunter and Judy Hicks. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
