Mrs. Anna “Lucille” Chambers, age 93, of Morganton, GA, passed away December 25, 2016 in the Union County Nursing Home. Born in Union County, GA, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Bessie Crawford Odom. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Lucille was a life long member of the Hemptown Baptist Church. Also preceding her in death was three children, Linda Sue Chambers and Stanley J. Chambers; grandson, Larry Donald Wilson, Jr.; son-in-law, Larry Wilson; and several siblings.
Survivors include her children, Mary Lou Wilson, Steve and Linda Chambers, and Raylene and Jimmy Cobb all of Morganton, GA; sisters, Jesse Mae Sparks of Charleston, SC and Willa Grace Edwards of FL; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Taylor officiating. Music will be provided by Lucy McKinney and Reece Ogburn. Interment will follow in the Hemptown Cemetery with all of her following grandchildren serving as pallbearers: Rachel Sue Holden, Demetrius Wilson, Chris Chambers, Lewis Chambers, Jamie Chambers, Jason Cobb, Clayton Chambers, and Josh Cobb. Serving as an honorary escort will be Jonathan Heaton, Kery Wilson, Tristan Wilson, Noah Wilson, Cole Chambers, Coy Chambers, Austin Chambers and Travis Holden. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
