Fannin Board of Education Regular Meeting Dec 8th Recognizes the Service of Board Member Sandra Mercier

The Fannin County Board of Education held its regular meeting Thursday evening, December 8th.  Prior to the meeting a reception was held for Mrs. Sandra Mercier to honor her service at her retirement.  Mrs. Mercier has an impressive service history in the Fannin County school system for many years beginning in Morganton, GA, also teaching in East Fannin, West Fannin, and Fannin County.  She also served as Superintendent as well.

It was obvious from her fellow board members she will be greatly missed and the relationship built by this board has worked to further the progress of all things for the benefit of the children.   Mrs. Mercier was understandably emotional and opted to send her statement to us:

For almost six years, I have  been privileged to serve on the Fannin County School Board. During my time on this board, I have witnessed some extremely positive and, sometimes, historic changes in education that have been beneficial to our students, employees, and stakeholders.  My retirement from the school board has provided for a new, and somewhat younger, board member to bring a fresh perspective to this board table. May I just say I expect much so much of Chad Galloway as he was a former student of mine at Fannin High School.

With that said, please know that it has been an honor to serve over the years and that I will always be dedicated to the FCSS!

           Sandra Mercier

The community has been deeply changed in a positive way by the selfless service and dedication from Mrs. Sandra Mercier and we can only hope she knows how much she has influenced, inspired, and realizes the difference she has made!
