Rachel Mae Turner, age 71, of Ooltewah, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 14, 2016 at a local hospital. She was born in Fannin County on March 31, 1945, to the late Julius and Blanche Panter. She worked for Gem Products and Sears Service Center. She was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her son, Donald Gregory Turner; brother, Bob Panter; and sister, Judy Allen.
She is survived by daughter, Becky Montieth of Chattanooga, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Gene Charles Godsey of Ringgold, GA; brothers, Wallace Panter and Sam Panter; sisters, Betty Byers and Velma Hughes; grandchildren, Seth (Abby) Medley, Whitney (Josh) Shirley, Ryan (Alexis) Turner, Ashlee Turner, Chase Turner, Andrew Godsey, Morgan Montieth, and Kaylee Godsey; and great-grandson, Aiden Shirley.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 1:00PM from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Schrader officiating. Music was provided by James Williams. Interment followed in Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of the arrangements.
