Miss Bernice McJunkins, 74, of Turtletown passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Life Care Center of Athens, TN. Miss McJunkins was born September 18, 1941 in Murphy, NC to the late Rev. Roy Lee McJunkins and the late Ada Dockery McJunkins. A member of the Bear Paw Baptist Church she was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister, Marlene McJunkins, one brother, Roy Lee McJunkins, Jr and brother-in-law, Ronald Jones. Bernice enjoyed playing piano, sewing and cooking in her spare time.
Survivors include two sisters, Virginia (Dennis) Standridge and Janie Jones and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. The gentlemen serving as Pallbearers will be Daniel Potter, Travis Jory, Benjamin Jory, Mitchell Jones, Jason Hester, and Michael McJunkins. Honorary Pallbearer will be Dennis Standridge.
The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 6-8 pm.
