Mrs. Ruth Ann Ray James: Obituary

Ruth Ann Ray James, age 76, of  Blue Ridge, GA, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 25, 2016. Born November 2, 1939, in Mineral Bluff, GA, graduated from East Fannin High School, Class of ’58 and later moved to Atlanta with her best friend. There, along with finding work, she met the love of her life… Allen H. James.  The two were married 55 years as of March 16, 2016.  Al was from Corpus Christi, TX, where the couple resided for many years before moving to the north Georgia mountains that she always called “home”.

Ruth Ann was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. She loved her family. Words simply can’t express how deeply she loved her family or how they loved her. She enjoyed her flowers, watching & listening to birds, reading, painting, and embroidering. She also enjoyed music, including gospel, country, the “oldies”, and especially Elvis. Reading her Bible at home was always important to her. As a youth, she was baptized at Hot House Baptist Church and throughout her life, Ruth Ann remained a faithful believer in our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Preceded in death by her loving parents, Wess & Eva Ray; sister, Helen Jones; brother, Hugh Ray; sister, as well as her best friend, Betty Jo Couey, all of Mineral Bluff, GA; brother, C.B. (Dimple) Ray of Morganton, GA; parents-in-law, Jesse & Leila James, Sr.; brother-in-law, Bill (Lorena) James; sister-in-law, Effie Ruth (Charles) Price; brother-in-law, Jesse “Jug” James, Jr., all of Corpus Christi, TX; brother-in-law, Mont (Betty) James of Victoria, TX; sister-in-law, Patsy (Johnny) Strickland of Robstown, TX; Several family members preceded her in death.

Ruth Ann leaves behind her loving husband, Allen H. James of Blue Ridge, GA; daughter, Rhonda (Richard) Glazier of Blairsville, GA; grand-daughter, Laura (Nathan) Stuart; great-grandson, River Stuart of McCaysville, GA; sister Becky (Sammy) Patterson of Morganton, GA; brother-in-law, Jim James; sister-in-law, Sue James, both of Corpus Christi, TX. Numerous family members & friends are also left behind.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Finch-Cochran Funeral Home located in McCaysville, Georgia. Family and friends will gather at 11:00 a.m. for visitation, with the memorial service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Her grandson, Nathan Stuart will be officiating. Music will be provided by several dear friends of her grand-daughter.
