Copper Basin Medical Center Hires New Emergency Room Staffing Company

Copper Basin Medical Center has hired Concord Medical Group, PLLC out of Breckenridge, TX to begin staffing the emergency room at 12:01 am on June 13. The group was hired after Dr. Siddiqui resigned from Copper Basin Medical Center last week effective June 12th. The emergency room will continue to operate without any disruption in schedule or responsibilities as Dr. Siddiqui resigns and Concord Medical Group begins . Concord Medical Group, PLLC (see company website) already provides staffing for three Tennessee hospitals located in Waverly, Parson and Eron. According to its website, the company began in 2001 to meet the needs of rural hospitals in west Texas.
Prior to his resignation, Dr. Siddiqui was the staffing agency responsible for providing the emergency room physicians at Copper Basin Medical Center. His emergency room staffing was apart from his Family Clinic practice which is also located at Copper Basin Medical Center complex. Dr. Siddiqui’s Family Clinic is not closing and will continue to operate as normal.
Copper Basin Medical Center District Board members were not consulted or informed about Anna Clark’s, CEO of Copper Basin Medical Center, decision to hire Concord Medical Group before the decision was made. Board members were notified via email on Wednesday, June 8.
The next public meeting regarding Copper Basin Medical Center will be at Polk County’s County Commission meeting on Tuesday, June 14th at the Community Center. The County Commissioners are concerned about Copper Basin Medical Center because the County Commission approved a $1.4 million loan to the hospital. Currently, the hospital’s loan repayments are up-to-date. However, some payments have been late resulting in approximately $2,000 late fee per each late payment. The hospital has paid off around 50% of the $1.4 million loan, with approximately $700,000 in payments remaining. If the hospital is unable to pay back the county, then county taxpayers and Ducktown and Copperhill taxpayers will see tax increase so the county will not default on the loan.
In other news regarding Copper Basin Medical Center, people protesting the hospital’s treatment of Dr. Siddiqui have been picketing outside the hospital in the mornings.

This is a crock of BS. This should have been a matter left to the community. If the community ends up with tax increases because the hospital may end up defaulting on the loan (and we know they will…they couldn’t even pay the previous staff), then the community should have the right to vote on if we want to take the responsibility and that tax increase. We already live pay check to pay check and can’t afford anymore monetary increases. We are going to be FORCED to pay on a loan that we didn’t even have the right to vote on through increased taxes. I thought we lived in a democracy. This is dictator crap. It’s wrong all the way around. If it’s going to be that way, then I’d rather make the trip to Fannin Regional, Union General, or Tennova in Cleveland.
