Eugenia Presswood Addington, age 100, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016.
Mrs. Addington was born in Ducktown, TN to Ada and Grover Presswood. She was the eldest of ten siblings, four of which are still living. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Addington.
She was beloved by her two daughters, Shirley Gagliano of Ringgold, GA and Mary Morgan of Fleming Island, FL, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a member of Mine City Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She enjoyed the past few years at Hickory Valley Retirement Center where her quick wit and ready smile endeared her to those who grew to know and love her. She was recognized there recently with a celebration of her one-hundredth birthday. She received recognition from Congressman Fleishman who informed her that the American Flag was flying over the Capitol that day in her honor. She later received the flag as a momentum.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 3rd, followed by the funeral service at Akins Funeral Home Chapel in Copperhill, TN with Rev. Keith Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Hill cemetery. For those desiring in memory of Mrs. Addington, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Mine City Baptist Church, P.O.Box 309, Ducktown, TN 37326.
