Starting the day with a healthy breakfast and pals Sparky and Champ, from the Fannin Fire Department and Sherriff’s Department, is how East Fannin Elementary School celebrated National School Breakfast Week. EFES usually serves up about 300 breakfasts a day for the 410 students. EFES Cafeteria Manager Heather Cobb would like to see that number go up. Children tend to drop out of the breakfast program the older they get even though they still need the healthy nutrition provided by a good breakfast states Cobb. A quick survey among Lora Eisenhart’s kindergarten class shows the nutritious favorites at EFES such as yogurt and granola, cheese sticks and cereal.

With the raucous noise of kindergarteners and first-graders in the background, FetchYourNews.com asked Ms. Cobb about her job. She said that compared to her former job as an insurance salesman, being the cafeteria manager is a calm job. The kids make her very happy. It looks like EFES has found a great cafeteria manager who can find calmness in a room full of hungry, early morning, energetic children.
