Mr. Herbert Payne, age 86, of Epworth, GA, passed away November 6, 2015. Born in Fannin County, GA, he was the son of the late Kit Carson and Ollie Patterson Payne. Mr. Payne had cut timber most of his life and was a long time member of the Bethany Church. Also preceding him death are his siblings; Rev. Avery Payne, Cleo Pelfrey, and Thelma Brumbalow.
Survivors include his siblings, Rev. John Henry Payne (Joy) of Epworth, GA, Martha Jones of Blue Ridge, GA, Mattie Botts of Atlanta, GA, Elva Ricketson of Perry, GA, Kathy Maxwell (Rev. Jack) of Ozark, AL, Mary Robinson of Blue Ridge, GA, Christine Foster of Blue Ridge, GA and Vina Green of GA.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday October 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Dickey and Rev. Lloyd Deal officiating. Music will be provided by Back to Bethany. Interment will follow in the Mt. Liberty Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Chris Payne, Timmy Payne, Clifford Payne, Jack Maxwell, Johnny Payne and Randall Ricketson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening after 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
